Fire alarm system consists of manual pull stations, visual/audible alarm devices and integrated automatic detection devices; addressable smoke detector/sounder bases and heat detectors located in individual sleeping rooms, corridors, common areas and mechanical spaces.
Fire Alarm Testing and Inspection: Individual components of the fire alarm system are tested bi-annually by a certified fire alarm company in accordance with NFPA 72, National Fire Alarm Code.
Automatic Sprinkler System Description
Type of System: Automatic Sprinkler tied into fire alarm system.
Coverage: Building fully sprinkled in accordance with NFPA 13.
Automatic Sprinkler System Inspection: Automatic sprinkler system
Inspected bi-annually by certified inspection company in accordance with NFPA 13A.
Fire Suppression Equipment
Portable Fire Extinguishers: Fire extinguishers located in accordance with NFPA 10, Standard for Portable Fire Extinguishers.
Portable Fire Extinguisher Inspections: Fire extinguishers located in residence halls are inspected monthly by SimplexGrinnell. Annual inspection is conducted by certified vendor in accordance with NFPA 10, Standard for Portable Fire Extinguishers.
Fire and Evacuation Drills
Drills: Residence Halls are required to have one fire drill conducted each semester within the first six (6) weeks of the semester.
